Shalom Y'all!

Y'all means ALL, and Echad means ONE

LexEchad is an innovative Reconstructionist Jewish Chavurah "group of friends" who assemble to facilitate Jewish ritual, learning, and service throughout the Bluegrass region of Kentucky.

Centered on the concept of Chesed or "Loving-Kindness," we are dedicated to Tikkun Olam "Repairing the World" through social justice and radical acts of kindness.

While we are an explicitly Reconstructionist Jewish Chavurah, we welcome Jews of all denominational affiliations and expressions of Jewish identity or religious observance. Additionally, we are explicitly welcoming of Interfaith families, friends, and allies. With deep appreciation and respect, you do NOT have to be Jewish to be a good person. You do NOT have to be Jewish to want to find meaningful connection with Jewish community, learning, and service.

Y'all means ALL!

Discover a spiritual home where contemporary values and deep tradition meet.

While we meet outdoors whenever possible or in different locations around town, our home base [and safe place] is within the "Radically Kind" Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Lexington.

listen Up fellow wrestlers!

Shema, Yisrael!

LexEchad doesn't shy away from the difficult conversations. Jews ask questions. Jews debate. Jews disagree with each other. Jews have always wrestled with life's most essential moral dilemmas. How can we protect ourselves without hurting others? How can humans be in creative collaboration with the Earth instead of causing unsustainable environmental devastation? How do we treat other human beings as other human beings, imbued with all the same essentialness as ourselves, and not as mere "objects" that are somehow in our way or preventing us from doing whatever we want?

Nusach - Music

Jewish music is built upon ancient melodies and tradition. That tradition continues through to present day popular music such as Folk, Blues, Jazz, Klezmer, Rock n' Roll, Punk, Reggae, Hip-Hop and beyond.

Is it Art? Is it Technology? Is it a ritual Artifact? Is it some kind of manifestation of a creative idea?

Food: Let's Nosh!

The entire Jewish Experience can be summarized thusly "They tried to kill us. They failed. Let's eat!!!"  Have you eaten yet? Do you want me to pack you some leftovers to take home?
